Our first Thanksgiving in our own home.

Our first Thanksgiving in our own home.

It’s that time of the year, where we gather with family and friends to give thanks and to be with one another. This year I wanted to start my own tradition in my home as this will be my first ever thanksgiving spread for my family! I decided to cook a few small things for my house because we are going to spend thanksgiving with Phillips family at his sister’s house and my family at my grandma’s house. Sorta on a “pot luck” feel. I didn’t want to have to pack a plate at every function so I decided to cook small dishes of the things my family likes most. My menu consist of turkey, ham, meat balls, cabbage, pasta salad, mac and cheese, deviled eggs, and corn pudding. I called my mom, talked with my coworkers almost every day up until we left for thanksgiving break on how to cook certain dishes, what ingredients to use, which dishes i should cook first or which I should wait until the last day. As we got closer to Thanksgiving Day I grew more and more excited. I rehearsed in my head which dishes i would prep all week long. Finally it was here! My turkey and sides came out perfect if i do say so myself! I cheated on my sweet potato pie, thanks Pattie 😊 and also the rolls. Other than that it was all a success! I can’t wait to plan our Christmas spread!
